Forest Carbon Credits Projects
Forest carbon projects can take one to two years to design and develop during which financial investments can be substantial. Managing the life cycle of a forest carbon credit projects requires the efforts of many different stakeholders.
Once the integrated and multi-location team comprising of carbon modelers, foresters and forest scientists, project managers and carbon finance experts spend countless hours in data collection, carbon quantification and modeling, project document development. These efforts are focused on the selection of a credible baseline, a rock solid additionality argument, identification of all risk and leakage scenarios.
Once these issues have been addressed and documented, the sometimes arduous and expensive journey through validation and verification begins. Once the project is approved and verified the first vintage carbon credits can be transacted and the eagerly anticipated carbon credit revenue arrives.
Needless to say, project management activities for such demanding project requires the soundest document management and archive functionality on the planed given the materiality of the underlying asset.
Based on our CCAMS flagship product, Carbon Credit Corp built a SaaS solution for our forest carbon projects to help manage the huge amount of data arising over the project’s 30 year time span. FCAMS (Forest Carbon Asset Management Solution) manages key project data and documents in a slick and intuitive way.
Once logged on, a user is guided through a role-specific workflow based on their actual role in the project. Our customized role-driven workflow allows only authorized users to perform a task. For example, the finance role is focused specifically on authorizing and creating credit transactions; the manager role is responsible for day-to-day operations; the verifier role is a 3rd-party stakeholder that ensures data and documents in FCAMS conform to verifier statements, thus ensuring system-wide integrity.
In addition to role-based system access, FCAMS was designed with business process controls such that key project data and documents must be uploaded in a specific order, by the specified user role, in order to activate system functionality. For example, a validated Project Design Document (PDD) must be created and uploaded before subsequent project data or documents may be uploaded and viewed.
Take away the headache and mitigate project risk — 30 years is a long a time and it is good to know that FCAMS can handle it. Contact us today and see how FCAMS can help you with your forest projects.
